Note: This is not a full list of FBLA competitive events - only events that begin at the section conference are listed here. Click on the competitive events below to find out more about them. You should be taken to a PDF listing the competencies, or topics assessed. Email [email protected] if the link is broken. Ignore references to the National Leadership Conference (NLC), as most of the information should still be pertinent to the section conference (BSLC). Practice tests and other sample event materials can be found here: http://www.fbla-pbl.org/docs/ct/fblareferenceguide.asp Questions? Contact a president.
Speech (all individual events) - deliver a speech in front of a judge panel. If you would like to do a speech event, you can only do that one speech event - you can't do another event in any other category because speech events are so time-consuming. More about speech events: http://www.fbla-pbl.org/docs/ct/evtdesc/FBLA/speech_events.pdf Creed (9th and 10th graders only) - Individual. Role Play Sales Presentation - Individual. New event in 2015-16. Before BSLC, competitors create and submit a seven minute video featuring him or her selling a product to a judging panel. At BSLC itself, sales presentation participants won't be actually competing in the event, but will find out results in the awards ceremony at the end. Some written events (indicated above) involve a role play component at the state competition, usually for the top 5 teams who scored the highest on the written test.
